project 1 :Building services audit of existing space

For this assignment at first we were asked to track and keep a journal or our electricity and water usage for 2 weeks and calculate the total for each day and then the total for the 2 weeks period .

After that we drew our room and toilet floor plan and had to make a ceiling plan for it :

Then we did this ecological footprint quiz to calculate our impact .And after answering all the questions we had to explain our answers and give justification .

Reflection :

While doing this project , which requires keeping track of the electricity and water usage for 2 weeks , I realized that my electricity consumption is quite high compared to my other housemates especially with the A/C which I keep it on as long as I’m in the house , because I don’t have a fan in my room so this is how I keep it cool . but to fix this problem I’ll pay a small fan to reduce the usage of the A/c and by that reduce my electricity bills .And same applies to my lighting I’ll try to get a portable light which use less power and generally try to switch off the lights when I don’t really need it .On the other hand , I think my water usage is just within the average rate .Plus I noticed that my electricity usage is higher on weekends because I tend to spend more time at my room doing assignments .

I think this assignment was a good reality check for me to change my bad habits regarding electricity usage ,because I used to live with my parents and I never acutely felt the need to track my usage or worry about how much I spend , But from now on I should look for more solutions and apply them in order to reduce my bills that I pay every months.Plus it helped me to understand how the electricity and water can be fixed in the construction process .
